A suspected drug dealer was killed while eight others were
arrested during a raid conducted by government security troops and
anti-narcotics agents in Maluso, Basilan before dawn Friday.

Tan said the operation took place at 5:45 a.m. at Sitio Canas, Barangay
Calangcanas, Maluso town.
Participating units in the operation were troops from Marine
Battalion Landing Team-11, 4th Special Forces Battalion, Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency, and Maluso Police Station.
Killed in the ensuing shootout was Abubakar Mohammad, alias
"Abubakar Adali Asa," the intended target of the raid.
Also seized were two M-16 automatic rifles, an M-203 grenade
launcher, several rounds of ammunition, numerous magazines, cash, suspected
shabu and other other drug paraphernalia.
Tan said eight other suspects were apprehended by the
authorities.
"Said confiscated items and arrested persons were
immediately brought to the Maluso Police Station for proper disposition and
documentation," he added.
Tan said the military will continue to assist law
enforcement agencies to deter illegal activities in the province.
