CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – Armed Forces Chief of Staff GEN HERNANDO DCA IRIBERRI visited the Joint Task Group Sulu (JTGS) on January 15, 2015 as part of his traditional troops visit which aims to raise the morale and lift the spirits of soldiers in the field.

In his talk before the men and women under the JTGS, Iriberri announced the various improvements in the AFP, including the acquisition of modern equipment such as R4 rifles, jet fighter planes, amphibious tanks and other upgraded equipment.

He also recognized the service and sacrifice of soldiers in Sulu which greatly contributed to the overall accomplishment of the AFP’s mission. “The government has been monitoring the activities of JTGS and its efforts in accomplishing its mandated mission, and I am very proud of you,” said Iriberri.

In his speech, Iriberri expressed his gratitude to the officers and enlisted men and women of the task group for their support and contribution to the AFP and to the country as a whole. He emphasized, though, that becoming class is not determined by the modern equipment the armed forces have on their inventory but largely on every soldier’s dedication to his or her sworn duty.

An awarding ceremony to deserving personnel was also held, including a static display of high powered firearms recovered by units under the JTGS. Josephine Jaron Codilla / MCAG
