The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Director
General Arturo Cacdac Jr. on Friday denied that the agency has no rift with the
arrested Philippine Navy Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino.
In a press briefing, Cacdac said that he was saddened when
an issue came out that there was a clash between him and Marcelino who even
once fought against illegal drugs.
Furthermore, he said that he did not have any idea why he
was being asked regarding the arrest of Marcelino.
Cacdac noted the operation was managed by the officers of
PDEA and the Philippine National Police Anti Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) who
are more legible to say something regarding the arrest of Marcelino.
Marcelino was arrested during a raid in Manila on Thursday with a Chinese national
carrying a Php 320-million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu.”
He was charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Marcelino denied involvement in the drug trafficking and
attested that he was conducting an intelligence operation the same day.
On the other hand, Cacdac said that Marcelino must face the
law and explain why he was inside the mini-laboratory where the raid happened.
