KPI holds Peace Forum in Mlang, North Cotabato


Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute Inc. (KPI) in coordination with North Cotabato Development Services Asociation (NOCODESA) headed by Akmad T. Agao  , held Series of Bangsamoro Peace Forum with the Theme: Unity and Solidarity Towards Justice, Peace And Development” on January 16 to 17 , 2016  at  Donguan and Gaunan, Mlang, North Cotabato where 389  participants in Donguan and 202 participants in  Gaunan coming from different barangays of Mlang, North Cotabato attended.
 
Mechanics of the program was given by Mr. Agao. He expressed his gratitude to the guest speakers and participants. He also explained the importance of the forum.

Prof. Esmael A. Abdula, KPI Executive Director and BLMI Steering Committee member told the participants that unity and solidarity are the objectives of the world today. He stressed “That man’s greediness of wealth and authority or power will lead to the commission of injustice, oppression and exploitation of human beings. “Therefore, we must strengthen brotherhood and spread the essence of love between and among us so that unity and solidarity can be achieved”.

Abdula emphasized unity and solidarity as vital factors to achieve peace, and is a stepping stone towards attaining humane Society. 

He shared updates on the status of GPH-MILF Peace Process, and focused on the Implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro CAB.

Atty. Haron Meling, Chief Executive Assistant to Chairman Mohagher Iqbal of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) gave updates on the status of BBL in congress. He said that “Until now the period of interpellation by the Senate is not yet through. After interpellations, the period of amendment follows. There are two versions of BBL, the House Version and the Senate Version.

Whether there is original BBL or diluted BBL, the MILF must continue seeking peace. The international community, the UN Secretary General, OIC Secretary General, US State Secretary, LGUs, NGOs, CSOs and the Catholic Church and other religious sectors expressed their continuous support to GPH-MILF Peace Process”,

Shiek Abubacar Batugan Gaga gave Islamic Orientation on Ideology, Political and Organization in correlation to the Bangsamoro contemporary struggle.  He emphasized the importance of Islam in the whole life of individual and society. “Islam is a complete way of life. Islam means a Religion of peace”, he quoted.

Shiek Batugan Gaga urged the participants to monitor the behavior and whereabouts of their children saying that nowadays there are prevailing propaganda being spread in the social media that injects wrong interpretation about Islam on the minds of the youth that will lead to radicalism. 

He also warned the participants about the rampant drug pushing and addiction in the Bangsamoro areas that have ill-effects to person’s physical and mental aspect.

Important personalities who gave their messages were  Ameludin Galman Al-hadz, Ustadz Kamarudin Pedtamanan, Abdulnasser Mustapha, Makadato Pedtamanan , Brgy Capt. Franco Sagadan Matalam, Brgy Captain of Duguan, Mlang, North Cotabato and  Ampuan Darute, Brgy Kagawad of Brangay Gaunan, Mlang, North Cotabato, Ustadz Abdulmanan Alang, Commander Jun Panangulon, of 7th Brigade of  108th Base Command of BIAF. And Habib Jabar Al-haj, Local Monitoring Team, LMT in North Cotabato.
The program ended with an open forum.
