NBI uses viral videos of Mamasapano incident as evidence to file charges at DOJ vs. MILF, others

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 22): NBI uses viral videos of Mamasapano incident as evidence to file charges at DOJ vs. MILF, others

The viral videos showing the alleged killing of some members of the 55th Special Action Company of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) in a cornfield in Tukanalipao, Maguindanao on Jan. 25, 2015 were verified and have been proven to be original.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila M. De Lima said that three to four videos, which became viral in the social media, were included in the pieces of evidence of the NBI in filing the complaint of complex crime of direct assault with murder against some commanders and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and private armed groups (PAGs).

However, De Lima clarified that although they have already identified the taker of the video, however, the same was not included in the witnesses in government custody.

Aside from government witness with the codename "Marathon" who is a prime witness, four others, who saw the merciless killing of the 35 PNP-SAF members, pointed to and gave the names of the 90 identified respondents in the complaint.

Meanwhile, after Prosecutor General Claro Arellano received the complaint, he still has to form a prosecution panel who will handle the complaint for the conduct of the preliminary investigation wherein the respondents will be given the opportunity to reply on the complaint against them or debunk the accusations against them.
