From the Sun Star-Davao (Feb 23): Ex-rebel killed, 2 soldiers hurt in Comval clash
A FORMER rebel acting as a guide for government troops was killed after members of the New People's Army (NPA) attacked the soldiers Sunday in Compostela Valley.
Two soldiers were also wounded in the fighting in Sitio Sto. Niño in Barangay Poblacion, Montevista, the Army's 10th Infantry Division spokesperson, Lieutenant Vergel Lacambra, reported.
Killed was Julius Magpatok, who was leading to soldiers to an NPA member, identified only as Sander, who was about to surrender.
Wounded were Captain Ariel Lobusta and Private First Class Allan Pajal, who belong to the 10th ID's Civil Military Operations Battalion.
Lacambra said the soldiers, who were in a civilian truck, were attacked by seven NPA members.
