A civilian suffered minor injuries after one of his group of rubber-tappers tripped on an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Basilan, 1st Lt Sally Christine Magno, public affairs officer of the Joint Task Group-Basilan, reported Tuesday.

The explosion happened at Block 7 in Barangay Mangal, Sumisip.

Magno identified the victim as Markus K. Llagao, 36, who was immediately brought to the nearest detachment of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 (MBLT-11) by Joseph Circulado, supervisor of Maluso Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development Corporation (MARBEDCO), for medical treatment.

"He is now in stable condition," Magno said.
