Army camp launches “STAR PARADE” program

From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 24): Army camp launches “STAR PARADE” program

CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela -- The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (5ID-PA) based in this town launched over the weekend the “Stop the Arm Response, Let’s Go to Peace, Reform and Development,” (STAR PARADE) program.

The program aimed to bring peace and development initiatives of the government and the military for the benefit and welfare of the people.

Col. Jose Arn Real, commander of 86th Infantry Battalion based in the town of San Mariano, said the STAR PARADE program involves not only military personnel but also local government units and other stakeholders.

Real said peace and development can be achieved with the help of everyone, particularly the local government executives.

He said the military is supportive of all peace and development initiatives of the government by bringing the programs and services right at the door steps of the people.

Col. Real said arm struggle is not the key to attaining peace as he urged the rebels to return to the folds of law and live a normal life.

Aside from the STAR PARADE program of the army, they are also supporting the government’s national greening program.
