At least eight Abu Ssayyaf gunmen died and 14 government troops, including a junior officer, were wounded in a clash in Sulu province Friday, the military’s report on the incident said.

The report said 12 of the wounded soldiers are “in stable condition” and that the Abu Sayyaf also suffered nine wounded after the military called in artillery and air support during the fighting in Sitio Tanum, Barangay Buhangin in Patikul town
.
The wounded troops, all from Bravo Company of the Army's 35th Infantry Battalion, are:
  1. 1st Lieutenant Edwin C. Mateo
  2. Staff Sergeant Rico N. Haluag
  3. Staff Sergeant Mario C. Macas
  4. Sergeant Mhienhar M. Sahial
  5. Corporal Eddie O. Saha
  6. Corporal Joel R. Torrion
  7. Private First Class Henry J. Sacay
  8. Private First Class Aldren H. Juani
  9. Private First Class Renante T. Lusay
  10. Private First Class Reyji S. Monsales
  11. Private First Class Gajir T. Radjah
  12. Private First Class Argie C. Maala
  13. Private First Class Ronello P. Anadeo
  14. Private First Class Malik B. Taha
Fresh troops from the 16th Special Forces Company and the 14th Light Armor Company were inserted into the combat area to pursue the Abu Sayyaf with Marine Battalion Landing Team 2 positioned to prevent the gunmen from withdrawing toward Talipao and Panglima Estino towns.
