The Butuan City-based 402nd Infantry Brigade has a new
commanding officer in the person of Col. Isidro L. Purisima.
Change-of-command ceremonies took place Feb. 4, a statement
forwarded Saturday by 4th Infantry Division spokesperson Major Christian Uy,
disclosed.
Purisima replaced Brig. Gen. Jonathan G. Ponce who was
promoted as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree
Affairs, J9, Armed Forces of the Philippines .
Present in the ceremonies were 4th Infantry Division
commander Major Gen. Oscar T. Lactao.
Purisima is a member of the Philippine Military Academy
“Sandiwa” Class of 1985.
He is not new in his present area of assignment since he
spent his military services in the CARAGA region as battalion commander of the
30th Infantry Battalion from 2005 to 2007 and become the Assistant Chief of
Staff for Operation, G3, 4th Infantry Division, which was the overall in-charge
of the different operations.
Purisima is a well decorated Army officer who received
various military awards for excellence in combat and administration, letters
and plaques of commendation and appreciation from different military units and
civilian sectors.
He vowed to continue what his predecessor has started and he
assured to give the primary importance to the peace process with rebel groups
and other threat groups to work well in collaboration with different
stakeholders to achieve the genuine peace in this part of the country."
