From InterAksyon (Feb 6): Suspected rebel leader with P550,000 bounty arrested in Bacolod City
Reports reaching Manila indicated that a suspected rebel leader was arrested by policemen inside a posh hotel Thursday in Bacolod City, a police report said.
The sketchy report identified the suspect as Miguel Elorpe Omayao alias Jhon-Jhon/Junjun Elorpe.
In a separate report obtained from the National Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Omayao was arrested at around 7:30 a.m. inside the Business Hotel and Restaurant.
"A tracker team of the CIDG-National Capital Region with intelligence support from our Intelligence Group arrested [rebel] leader Omayao by virtue of a warrant for multiple murder with quadruple frustrated murder and damage to property," he said.
The warrant was issued by Judge Bernadette Paredes-Encina Real of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 36, Calamba, Misamis Occidental.
"The arrested rebel leader is listed in the most wanted person lineup at the national level with monetary reward of P550,000," CIDG spokesperson Chief Inspector Elizabeth Jasmin said.
Based on police and military records, Jasmin said, Omayao "was the former liaison officer of the Front Committee Sendong, West Central Mindanao Front of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF)."
Jasmin said Omayao is presently under detention by the Bacolod Criminal Investigation and Detective Team.
"He will be brought to Calamba, Misamis Occidental and will be presented to the issuing court," Jasmin said.
