The military’s Western Mindanao Command culminated its “Kiddie Summer Sports Clinic” which was participated by more than 150 children in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, officials said Friday.

Military spokeswoman Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela said the sports program was led by Lt. Gen. Rustico Guererro, chief of the Western Mindanao Command, and Maj. Ombra Arip, of the Special Service.

She said the activity was part of the Command’s sports program aimed at fostering camaraderie, team building and promotion of a healthy life style among the participants, mostly children from families of soldiers and civilian employees.

“The activity was conducted not only for the kids to compete but rather educate them on the significance of a healthy lifestyle through sports activity as well as teaching them team work and friendship,” Muyuela said.
