The
Philippine Navy and US Navy co-hosted the US Naval War College (UNSWC) 10th
Regional Alumni Symposium (RAS) in Manila
from May 21 to 23.
With
the agenda on “Enhancing Regional Maritime Stability”, US and international
alumni of USNWC had an opportunity to exchange insights and perspectives on
security challenges in a comfortable and not-for-attribution environment.

public affairs office chief Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic said an estimated 100
participants from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, India, Indonesia, Japan,
Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore,
Thailand, Taiwan, United States and Vietnam attended the event.
The
program includes keynote speeches by prominent military leaders in the region,
faculty-led panels addressing contemporary challenges operational and technical
issues of relevance to the region and table-top war games.
Topics
on information sharing/interoperability, humanitarian assistance and disaster
relief (HA/DR) lessons learned and preserving freedom of navigation were also
discussed.
RAS
is an academic conference designed to continue the professional military
education of USNW
College alumni after they
graduate from the college.
It
also allows the graduates to take advantage of the “Newport Connection” across
many classes.
