From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 24): US destroyer escort rescues five stranded fishermen off Lubang Island in Mindoro Oriental

The USS McCampbell (DDG-85), an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer attached to the USS George Washington (CVN-73) carrier battle group, has rescued five Filipino fishermen drifting off the waters of Lubang Island in Mindoro Oriental before dawn Wednesday. The US Embassy in Manila said that the rescue was effected around 1 a.m. Wednesday.... The individuals, all Filipino citizens, are currently resting comfortably aboard the USS McCampbell before their turnover to Philippine authorities.... The USS McCampbell is part of the USS George Washington carrier strike group, the US Navy’s only continuously forward-deployed carrier strike group, based out of Yokosuka, Japan, and is currently conducting a routine western Pacific patrol in support of the joint security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
