Army troopers recovered explosives and subversive documents after a 30-minute encounter with the New People’s Army (NPA) in the outskirt Sitio Kidogkidog, Santa Isabel, Jones, Isabela last October 16, a report said. Colonel Miguel T. Puyao, spokesman of the army’s 5th Infantry Division based in Gamu, Isabela province, said Tuesday in a phone interview that a team of soldiers belonging to the army’s 51st Division Reconnaissance Company was conducting security operations in the place when they encountered 15 fully-armed NPA rebels. The firefight between our troops and the NPA rebels, who belong to the Sandatahang Platoon Propaganda (SPP) GANI under the leadership of Romeo “Mon/Rito” Cudal, lasted for about 30 minutes after which the rebel group scampered towards different directions, Puyao said. It was said that no casualty was reported between the soldiers and the rebels after the encounter. During the clearing operation, the soldiers recovered five backpacks containing three claymore mines, medical kit, personal belongings and voluminous subversive documents with high intelligence value....
