“They’re on a merry-go-round! Nakakalula’ng lokohan!” This aptly describes the recent Maoist communist CPP-NPA-NDF’s propaganda slur in the aftermath of the signing of the historic ‘Framework Agreement’ by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, last October 15, in Malacañang.... “The bottom line is – - – until today, after some 2 decades of peace negotiations, CPP-NPA-NDF’s sincerity to seek the path of peace is still abjectly missing. Undeniable is their (communists’) desire to restrict the movements of government security forces during peace negotiations while their NPA units are on the loose and rampage hitting both civilian and military targets at will,” he added. The sole pro-democracy solon stressed that the Maoist CPP-NPA-NDF demands that government shall: a) fully comply with the Joint Agreement on Security and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG), b) release of detained Maoist communist personalities, and c) fully comply with the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) are unjustified and stacked against government with the Maoists totally unobligated to their fulfill their end of these agreements, even during the pendency of the talks. “The government is always in the disadvantage as lives of Filipinos, both civilians and in the security services, are constantly threatened. ANAD supports the position of government in refusing to accede to communist’ demand to release about 13 top CPP-NPA-NDF personalities and some 350 political detainees due to the absence of the so-called mechanism of verification whether or not these people are in the JASIG list or not,” said Rep. Alcover. “Clearly and without doubt, Ocampo and Jalandoni’s skill in Red-baiting (read: baiting by the Reds) is once again displayed to cause government to fall into their trap and feed their insatiable lust for lies and deceit in support to their violent national democratic revolution!” Rep. Alcover added.
