The commander of the 43rd Infantry Battalion (IB) vowed to pursue peace relentlessly, despite the death of four of his soldiers. “Despite the loss of lives of my men, we will pursue our efforts in conducting peace and development activities to assist the local government attain peace and development,” Lt. Col. Glen Jun Calambuhay, commander of the 43rd IB said. 8th Infantry Division reported that four soldiers from the 43rd IB, 8th ID, Philippine Army were killed in an armed encounter against the New People’s Army at Brgy. Ramon, Gandara in Samar, while conducting Bayanihan Activities on October 21at 10:30 p.m. Two soldiers were also wounded in the same armed encounter which lasted for about 30 minutes, 8th ID reported. The soldier heroes were members of the ‘Bayanihan Teams’ performing Peace and Development Activities in coordination and collaboration with the local government unit of the municipality of Gandara, Samar....
