From the CPP Website (Oct 24): CPP condemns hosting of nuclear interventionist warship USS George Washington
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today condemned the docking today at Manila Bay of the USS George Washington (CVN-73), one of the largest nuclear-capable aircraft carriers of the US navy. Another US warship, the USS Campbell, that form part of the USS George Washingtom Carrier Strike Group, arrived in early October and is also set to dock at Manila Bay after conducting sea patrols in Philippine Seas over the past weeks. “The USS George Washington is one of the US military’s main weapons in launching wars of intervention, occupation and suppression,” said the CPP. “Its docking at Manila Bay underscores how the Philippines under the puppet Aquino regime is being used by the US military as a platform for its intervention and power projection....” The CPP also pointed out that “the docking of the USS George Washington will continue to worsen the diplomatic problems revolving around the multi-country claims over various land features in the South China Sea including the Scarborough Shoal and the Spratly Islands. In vowing to support the claims of the Philippine and Vietnam governments, the US is outrightly undermining the position of China and provoking it to be more aggressive in asserting its own claims.” The CPP added that with a crew of around 6,000 US Navy personnel, the USS George Washington is also often accompanied by a surge of prostitution wherever it is docked. This is the third time under the Aquino regime that the USS George Washington has docked in Manila.
