The Moro Islamic Liberation Front is urging government to postpone the awarding of oil exploration contracts for Mindanao until the issue of wealth sharing with the Bangsamoro region can be resolved. MILF chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, in an article posted Tuesday on the organization’s website, Luwaran, stressed that his call to postpone the awarding of oil exploration contracts for the Liguasan Marsh, in the Cotabato Basin, and the Sulu Sea did not meant they are against oil exploration and the exploitation of resources. “As a principle, we are not against exploitation of our natural resources including oil and gas provided that they redound to the benefits of our people and should be done in the proper time and conditions,” Murad said....
