A military officer sees the Ata-Manobo populated town of Talaingod as the last frontier to push the Peace and Development Program (PDOP) in Davao del Norte. In the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting in Davao del Norte, General Lysander Suerte of the 10th Infantry Division said the number of peace and development teams (PDTs) should be considered before entering Talaingod, the farthest town in Davao del Norte that borders with the province of Bukidnon in Region 10. Suerte said his troops are still wrapping up immersion activities in some other barangays in Laak and in peripheral areas in Panabo City, Sto. Tomas and in New Corella, which borders with neighboring areas outside of Davao del Norte. The 103rd Infantry “Raptor” Brigade of the 10th Infantry Division covers the municipality of Laak, the entire province of Davao del Norte and Paquibato of Davao City. “Very soon papasok na kami sa Talaingod. (Very soon, we will be entering Talaingod),” he said, referring to PDTs deployed to carry out community work in line with PDOP, which is an Internal Peace and Security Program (IPSP) of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division of the Philippine Army. PDTs are yet to enter Talaingod, but Suerte revealed the presence of his armed troops in the area....
