A suspected communist rebel was killed during an encounter with government troops early morning on Tuesday in Negros Occidental, the military said. Quoting a report from the Army's 303rd Infantry Brigade, Army spokesman Maj. Harold Cabunoc said soldiers from the 47th Infantry Battalion were patrolling the outskirts of Brgy. East, Municipality of Candoni, Negros Occidental around 5:30 a.m. when they encountered a group of New People's Army members. After the 10-minute firefight, one female NPA rebel, about 25 years old, was killed. No casualty was reported on the government side, Cabunoc added....
