CLARK AIR BASE, Pampanga (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. lauded the men and women of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) for their exemplary dedication to secure the sovereignty of the nation by defending its skies.
“The dedication and sacrifice that the personnel have demonstrated throughout history paved the way for the PAF’s growth and success over the last 76 years. We stand today to recognize the outstanding PAF officers, members, and units who have contributed in laying the groundwork for the enhancement of our aerial defense capabilities,” he said during the service branch’s 76th anniversary celebration which was held at Haribon Hangar in Clark Air Base, Pampanga.
Marcos said that as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), he is proud to see the great distance taken and path flown by PAF members to ensure the security and sovereignty of the nation.
These achievements, he stressed, exemplify the values that the PAF stands for—integrity, excellence and patriotism.
“As members of the Philippine Air Force, you must always uphold these values as custodians of our skies, entrusted with the task of upholding our national interest, protecting our people, and defending our territory,” he said.
Marcos also recognized PAF’s crucial role in saving lives during calamities and other humanitarian crisis; as well as its support to the Philippine Army and other law enforcement agencies in upholding internal security and making the community safe from various threats.
With this, on behalf of the Filipino people, he thanked PAF personnel for their service, and urged them to continue doing their best and inspiring fellow airmen and airwomen to do the same.
“The days ahead will not be easy and will demand every ounce of our strength and our resilience. The winds of change signal geo-political challenges around our region and other parts of the world that have yet to affect us. May you also remain united in purpose, indomitable in spirit, and unwavering in your dedication to protect our beloved republic,” he urged.
Meanwhile, he also reiterated that his administration is committed to strengthening PAF through acquisitions under the AFP Modernization Program.
Among the highlights of the event was the capability demonstration at Colonel Ernesto Rabina Air Base in Capas, Tarlac, where PAF units showcased their high explosive and AGM-65 missile system capabilities; as well as their capability in the Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction System.
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “PAF@76: Accelerating with Excellence towards a more Capable, Credible, and Sustainable Force” which reflects PAF's commitment to upholding the legacy of its predecessors while harnessing itself for the challenges of the future. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
