Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – June 23, 2023

Civilians handed over four loose firearms to the military in Tawi-Tawi on Thursday morning, June 22, 2023.

Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi Commander, Brig. Gen. Romeo Racadio said that four law-abiding individuals turned over their unlicensed firearms, including one M16A1 rifle, one M79 Grenade Launcher, one M1 Garand Springfield rifle, and one Springfield Bolt-action rifle, to Lt. Col. John Paul Jacla, Commanding Officer of Marine Battalion Landing Team 7.
 
The turn-over ceremony was held at the barangay hall of Barangay Malasa, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, and was witnessed by the Barangay Local Government Unit headed by Chairman Dastala Bakki.
 
Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of Western Mindanao Command, commended the marine officers and soldiers of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi, led by Brig. Gen. Racadio, for this recent accomplishment.
 
“We intensified our campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms to free the communities from violence and achieve our common aspirations,” Lt. Gen. Galido stated.
 
The surrendered loose firearms will be turned over to the 2nd Marine Brigade for proper disposition.
