From the Visayan Daily Star (Apr 29, 2023): Rebel dies in Canlaon encounter (By GILBERT P. BAYORAN)
A suspected New People’s Army yesterday died in an encounter with Army soldiers in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.Initial military reports disclosed that 62nd Infantry Battalion soldiers were on combat operations when they encountered a group of fully armed rebels.
The fleeing rebels left behind their slain companion at the encounter site.
Sketchy military reports stated that several firearms were also retrieved by Army soldiers at the scene of gun battle.
Pursuit operations are still ongoing as of this time.
