DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Police launched a manhunt for the motorcycle riding-in-tandem gunmen who ambushed and killed a man Thursday afternoon.
Lt. Col. Assir Balindong, Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police chief, said the victim Aquino Datucan was driving a black Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up truck when ambushed at 3 p.m. in Barangay Makir.
Datucan was rushed by his companion to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His companion who was seated in the front seat was unharmed.
A female public commuter van passenger, identified as Sapia Mokamad, 58, of Koronadal City, collapsed when she saw the shooting and was also declared dead on arrival in the hospital.
Police said she died of apparent cardiac arrest.
Police found empty shells of an M16 rifle at the crime scene.
A possible motive for the attack could be a personal grudge or “rido” or clan war, police said.
