OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, July 13 (PIA)-- PCpl Marvin Alcala Intong, one of the four cops wounded during the attack of the quarantine control point (QCP) in Barangay Putongan, Concepcion in Misamis Occidental died on July 10 while undergoing treatment at Mayor Hilarion Ramiro, Sr (MHARS) Medical Center here.
Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Director PCol Danildo Tumanda said he is saddened by the loss of one of its brave police officers.
Intong, 29, a native of Calamba Misamis Occidental, was among the four wounded personnel manning the checkpoint when an undetermined number of armed men believed to be members of the New People's Army (NPA) launched a surprise tactical offensive maneuver around 7:50 a.m., July 9.
Intong sustained a gunshot wound on his right thigh and was immediately transported to MHARS Medical Center in Ozamiz City to undergo operation and medical treatment.
Police said Intong’s death was due to hemorrhagic shock, massive severe bleeding, vascular injury, fractured right femur, and impending compartment syndrome secondary to gunshot wound.
Tumanda assures the surviving family as well as the other wounded PNP personnel that they will receive the full benefits from the PNP and other agencies. (MOCPPO PIO/PIA Misamis Occidental)
