PALO, Leyte, Mar 2 (PIA) - Lieutenant General Roberto T. Ancan, commander of the Central Command, AFP was recently in the region where he actively participated in the charting of the best path in order to secure peace and development of Eastern Visayas.

Lt. Gen. Ancan joined Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Eastern Visayas Secretary Eduardo del Rosario in the RTF8-ELCAC presentation of Action Plan for 2020.

"We are here to determine the best path in order to secure peace and to protect economic development here in Region 8," Ancan said.

He also visited the home of the Stormtroopers (8th Infantry Division) where he was warmly welcomed by the Commander of Joint Task Force Storm Major General Pio Diñoso and was tendered with the traditional arrival honors.

The Command visit activities included the awarding of medals and giving Pep Talk to the Stormtroopers to further boost the morale and welfare of troops under his Command.

Ancan is a bemedaled military officer, receiving medals, ribbons and badges recognizing his achievements as an officer of the AFP.

Previously, he led the Zamboanga Del Sur-based 1st Infantry Division and is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) 'Hinirang' Class of 1987.

The newly-promoted chief of Centcom landed on top of the class in his Command and General Staff Course Class at the AFP Command and General Staff College and also finished his Masters in Management Major in Public Administration at the Philippine Christian University in Manila.

He underwent military studies such as basic airborne course, scout ranger course, field artillery officer’s basic course, explosives ordnance and disposal course, and took his junior officer close country instructor training at battle wing in Caungra in Queensland, Australia as well as his field artillery officers advance course at the US Army Field Artillery school in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

He also had training on peacekeeping course in United Nations Staff College Project in Turin, Italy and Legal Aspects in Support of Civil Authorities at Defense Institute for International Legal Studies at Newport, Rhode Island. (opt/PIA-8)
