Bancasi, Butuan City – The Medical and Dental Team under the 402nd Brigade extended free Medical and Dental Services to residents of Brgy Mt Carmel, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur and BrgysRojales and Manoligao of Carmen, Agusan del Norte under the Peace and Development Zone (PDZ) program during the Peace Caravan and Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Immersion on January 23 and 24, 2020, respectively.
A total of ninety – three (93) individuals availed of the dental services while 1, 067 had their Blood Pressures Checked-up and medicalconsultations with free medicines facilitated by the 2nd Forward Support Medical Platoon (2FSMP), 4th Forward Support Medical Company (4FSMC) and the 2nd Dental Operating Team (2DOT) under the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigadein partnership with the LGU and PNP’s Medical and Dental Team.
The Peace Caravan in Brgy Mt Carmel was a prelude to the 4th Regional Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) meeting in Caraga region while the PPOC immersion is the 8th in Agusandel Norte.
402nd Brigade Commander Brigadier General Maurito L Licudine assured the participation of its troops in providing assistance in any undertaking that will complement the initiatives of its civilian counterparts in ending the local communist armed conflictoperationalized under the Whole of Nation Approach (WNA) where all stakeholders, government agencies and private entities/individual, converge to address the root causes of the insurgency problem.
“The services we extended were part of the Army’s efforts in collaborating with the LGAs under the mechanism of RTF-ELCAC in Caragato address common issues exploited by the Communist Terrorist Groups in order to recruit and gain mass support. The priority areas are those included under the Peace and Development Zone (PDZ), the CaragaRTF ELCAC’s banner program to counter insurgency.”
PDZ is a convergence of peace stakeholders. A peace – building initiative/effort which promotes a process that facilitates the establishment of durable peace and to prevent the recurrence of violence by addressing the root causes and effects of conflict through reconciliation, institution building, and political as well as economic transformation.
