TACLOBAN CITY, Jan 26 (PIA) -- Twenty-five (25) former rebels in Calbiga, Samar, recently completed training on production of organic vegetables and fertilizer NC II conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Samar.
The former rebels received certificates of completion in a simple graduation rites held on January 22, 2020 at the Headquarters of the 46 Infantry “Peacemakers” Battalion in Brgy. Polangi, Calbiga, Samar.
TESDA Samar Provincial Director Engr. Enrico C. Banario, confirmed the graduates and awarded the training certificates together with Ms. Ma. Teresa L. Calalang, associate director of BPI Foundation; Mr. Arthur F. Aguinaldo, project manager of BAYAN Academy; Hon. Eva L. Castillo, vice mayor of Calbiga; Ms. Delia C. Mabansag, PESO manager and LTC Rhomel Langcauon, commanding officer of the 46th IB.
Earning a National Certification II means that they can now be employed here and even abroad.
The skills training is part of a peace agreement with the government to provide former rebels with the opportunity to return to mainstream society, land a job, and live decent lives.
Said training is a project if the Samar Provincial Task Force in Ending the Local Communist Armed Conflict, particularly the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster. (PIA 8/46IB, 8ID, PA)
