From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 27, 2019): Indignation rally vs CPP-NPA-NDF held in Caraga (By PNP Caraga)
BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 27 -- Police units in Caraga spearheaded the conduct of indignation rally condemning the atrocities and illegal activities of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) on Thursday, December 26.
Various stakeholders, government employees, civilians, and former rebels also attended the activity which coincided with the 51st anniversary of the CPP.
Some of the participants marched on the main thoroughfares while others held the rally in front of the municipal halls while holding streamers/placards containing messages denouncing crimes committed by the terrorists like extortion and killing of innocent civilians.
“Our people are already fed up with the human rights violations of the terrorists. In fact in some areas, the flag of the CPP-NPA was burned by the people,” Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr., Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 director said.
The region’s top cop added that the relentless counterinsurgency campaign of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police has been successful in the region as manifested by the large number of rebels who returned to the folds of the law and the decreasing support of the masses to the armed struggle.
