Two councilors of Barangay Kalamtukan, Bayawan City in Negros Oriental were shot dead on Thursday.
A report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) identified the victims as Felipe Semillano Condez, Jr., 60, married, and Jonesis Juanitez Condez, 31, both residents of Kalamtukan.
Initial police investigation showed that at 10:30 a.m., the victims were on their way home from the city proper on board a motorcycle when their assailants -- two unidentified persons riding on a motorcycle and believed to have been tailing them -- shot them using a firearm of still unknown caliber at Sitio Napac-an in Barangay Kalumboyan, Bayawan.
Sitio Napac-an is about 15 km. from the city proper.
The village councilors suffered multiple gunshot wounds that caused their instant death.
Police investigators were still determining the motive for the killing.
