LANAO DEL NORTE, July 31 (PIA)--To operationalize Executive Order No. 70 to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), Governor Imelda "Angging" Quibranza-Dimaporo convened jointly the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and the Provincial Development Council (PDC), July 30 at the Macapagal Training Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The joint councils' meeting tackled and adapted key action points under a work plan for ELCAC for the Province of Lanao del Norte and favorably endorsed the identified Programs and Projects under the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev) Framework formulated through the facilitation of the Philippine Army, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), provincial government, and concerned local government units (LGUs).

NEDA-10 Regional Director Myrah Faye B. Cariño appraised the PPOC and PDC members that included the presence of 18 municipal mayors of the strategic development significance of Lanao del Norte to Northern Mindanao's growth.

She also articulated the need to include the province in the CAPDev areas in the operationalization of EO 70.

Other significant policy actions during the meeting include the passage of a joint council resolution creating Lanao del Norte's ELCAC Task Force, the adoption of the ELCAC provincial work plan and the favorable endorsement to multi-level development councils of the priority programs and projects identified in the CAPDev workshops.
