TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur – Troops of the 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion initiated preventive measures through lectures on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Dengue at the Battalion Headquarters, Brgy Zamora, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur on August 29, 2019.

Personnel from Talacogon District Hospital led by Dr. Rolly T. Dacera administered simultaneous check-up, while lectures on causes, symptoms, and ways to prevent spread of HIV and Dengue were provided by Mr. Janis Eryl Jandayan and Mr. Erwin Perez.

The activity was conducted in response to the current epidemic of Dengue and HIV particularly in Caraga region. “The cases of HIV and Dengue is alarming and one way to address this problem is by educating the people about it.” said Dr. Dacera.

Lt. Col. Romeo C Jimenea, 26IB Commanding Officer, is in full support for the cause and encouraged everyone to do their part in spreading awareness. “It is often said that prevention is better than cure. And the best approach to prevention is proper education and effective information dissemination.” as stated by Lt. Col. Jimenea.

“These lectures on HIV and Dengue aim to provide knowledge for every Ever Onward trooper and pass on useful pieces of information to fellow soldiers, their families and to the whole community as well, thus contributing to the prevention of these epidemia”, he added.
