The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is expected to have its own official flag by September.
This was after the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) approved the BARMM official flag.
Interim Chief Minister Al Haj Murad Ebrahim signed Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 1, otherwise known as “An Act Adopting the Official Flag of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao” on Wednesday, August 28, in Cotabato City.
The act shall take effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of regional circulation in BARMM.
“The official flag will be used in ceremonies and activities of the regional government and in official functions,” the Bangsamoro government said.
Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, the autonomous regional government can adopt its official flag, which is reflective of its people’s identity, history, heritage, struggles, and aspiration.
