Troops under Western Mindanao Command, non-government organizations, and the local government of Ungkaya Pukan worked together in aiding a public school in Basilan on July 27.
More than 400 students, parents, and teachers from Amaloy Elementary School benefited from the distribution of medical supplies and sports equipment, feeding program, Patriot’s band, and magic show conducted on Saturday.
On July 9, two classrooms of Amaloy Elementary School were burned, disrupting classes there.
Troops from 18th Infantry Battalion, Save the Children of War Foundation, Rotary Club, Student Action Force, Commission on Higher Education, and Ungkaya Pukan local government unit launched the outreach program in Basilan.
Save the Children of War Foundation, led by Dr. Arlene Jawad Jumao-as, with its volunteers, CHED Region IX Director Rody Garcia, and Pamela Grace Biel of the Rotary Club of Basilan joined the outreach program.
“We are eager to be part of any resolutions for peace and development in Basilan, and we are gladdened by the resolute effort and commitment of our partners,” said WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.
“Our involvement in Civic Actions and other Non-traditional military activities, we making headway in bringing peace and development,” Sobejana added.
