PLACER, Surigao del Norte – In the pursuit of ending the local b communist armed conflict in Surigao del Norte, the 30th Infantry “Python” Battalion (30IB) recorded a large number of personalities denouncing their connection to the Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) since 2018.
754 personalities composed of 663 Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) mass supporters, eighty-five (85) Militia ng Bayan (MB) and six (6) regular members surrendered to 30IB through the Community Support Program (CSP) operations conducted in 21 affected barangays in six (6) municipalities of Surigao del Norte. Three (3) of which were high ranking officials and leaders of the CNT’s known as @NONAME, @RD and @WELLA who returned to the folds of the law last June 20, 2019.
Since then, the surrenderees were processed to receive benefits under the Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) such as financial assistance, livelihood assistance, job opportunities as well as trainings thru the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Lt Col Jeffrey Villarosa, Commander of the 30th IB said, “We are very grateful to the unwavering support of the LGUs, LGAs, and other stakeholders in Surigao de Norte. Our “Peaceful War” efforts will not result to these significant gains if not for you.” “As 30IB intensify its Civil-Military Operations, we need partners in the fight against the terror of the CPP-NPA. Our convergence will be the key towards addressing the root causes of insurgency and finally attaining long-lasting peace and inclusive growth and development. After all, insurgency is a social menace”, Lt Col. Villarosa ended.
