Three barangays in Arakan, North Cotabato have declared the communist New People’s Army (NPA) as “persona non-grata,” military said.
The declaration was made by the villages of Salasang, San Miguel and Kinawayan during the three-day consecutive Peace Rally on July 17-19.
“Our goal is to declare the whole Arakan Valley Complex as insurgency free that is why we are relentless in our effort in conducting focused military operations and community support program to all affected barangays in our area of operation,” said Lt. Col. Benjamin A. Dao-on, commanding officer of the 19th Infantry Battalion.
Of the 28 barangays in Arakan, nine have already declared the NPA as persona non-grata.
Last April, the province of North Cotabato also made similar declaration against the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA-National Democratic Front (NDF).
