From the Mindanao Times (May 10): NPAs flee camp after clash

TROOPS of 27th Infantry battalion stumbled upon an abandoned encampment of the New People’s Army (NPA) following a clash with communist fighters in Barangay Kimatu, T’boli, South Cotabato on Tuesday morning.Capt. Mc Gary Dida, the civil-military operations officer of 27th IB, told TIMES yesterday that their soldiers were conducting security operations in the village when they encountered the rebels.

The firefight lasted for 40 minutes before the rebels escaped. The soldiers later found out that the NPAs were defending an encampment which include foxholes, ammunition, food supplies, subversive documents, and personal belongings.


He said there was no casualty on the government side but the pursuit operation is ongoing against the fleeing rebels.

“It is high time for you to peacefully surrender and bring down your fire arms to the folds of law, the government has a program that will provide livelihood assistance to help you start a living and avail of the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) of our government,” Lt. Col. Jones Brisal Otida, 27th IB commander, said.

Brig. Gen. Roberto Ancan, the 1002nd Infantry Brigade commander, said the rebels with be dealth with in accordance with the law.
