Gov. Antonio Del Rosario said that the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) camp will be included as among the tourist destinations of the province if only there are no restrictions.

Del Rosario, who was guest of honor and speaker of the 3ID’s 44th founding anniversary last May 10, said that the camp is “so enchantingly beautiful which can keep every visitor’s spirit at peace with the world.”

“I note with pride that you occupied the third largest military reservation in the country and one of your greatest responsibilities is keeping the military reservation free from exploitation of unscrupulous people,” he said.

“I am confident that you will be our partner in implementing environmental programs and keep the military reservation a haven of wild trees, plants and beautiful waterfalls,” he added.

In 2012, a talk with the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office was conducted by 3ID top officials to make the army camp as an ecotourism area in the province and promote the rich cultural heritage of the people at the military reservation.

The camp, spanning over 33,310 hectares, has been declared a military reservation through Presidential Proclamation No. 67 and officially proclaimed by virtue of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 19 of Jamindan town.

The sprawling camp covers the municipalities of Jamindan and Tapaz of Capiz province and Lambunao town in Iloilo and is inhabited by various Indigenous People (IP) communities.

It is just 54 kilometers from here, 88 kilometers from Kalibo, Aklan and 122 kilometers from Iloilo City.

The whole camp is a nature park, a wildlife sanctuary and has at least five waterfalls.
