PNP not setting aside bomb threat text message

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 5): PNP not setting aside bomb threat text message

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is not setting aside the proliferating text message saying an alleged bomb threat in malls in Metro Manila.

PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said that as of Monday, they were continuously verifying the text message, however, he assured that the public should be not alarmed.

Dela Rosa said that for as long as the PNP has not made an announcement that there is a bomb threat in any place in the county, the proliferating text messages should not be given credence.

He added that the text message can be “authentic” if it will come from the PNP Public Information Office (PIO) and the same will be reported by legitimate media.

The PNP chief urged those who are receiving such a bomb threat text message that they should not pass the same to others so that it will not sow fear.

It can be recalled that the fourth version of the text message proliferated again claiming that the PNP chief warned the public about the alleged bombing in malls in Metro Manila of four female suicide-bombers from Basilan province.
