With President Rodrigo Duterte's declaration of a nationwide
"state of lawlessness", the Davao City-based Eastern Mindanao Command
(EMC) is more than ready to undertake tasks that will ensure public safety and
order.
"EMC is prepared to undertake its tasks to ensure
public safety and order. Rest assured that this will be done in coordination
with the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies and
without compromising human rights and the rule of law," EMC spokesperson
Major Ezra Balagtey said.
Duterte placed the entire country in a "state of
lawlessness" in wake of the bloody Davao City
bombing on Friday which killed 14 persons and wounded 71 others.
"We call on the public to bear with us as we increase
our presence in some areas. This is to ensure that the public will be safe from
any terror attacks. Let us continue to be vigilant but calm and continue with
our normal lives," Balagtey added.
