With the declaration of the State of National Emergency on account of Lawless Violence, the Philippine Army is intensifying its security operations in populated areas.

Having jurisdictions over Southern Mindanao, 10th Infantry Division commanding general, Major General Rafael Valencia appealed to the public to endure any inconvenience brought by their intensified military operations.

“I would like to request our Kababayan (fellowmen) to bear with us as we intensify our checkpoints and security operations in populated areas,” MGen Valencia said.

The State of National Emergency was signed President Rodrigo Duterte following the Davao night market bombing on September 2.

MGen Valencia also urged the public not to disseminate hoax bomb threats.

“Actually, ang daming nagkalat na text messages di lang dito sa atin, pati na rin sa Manila, Negros at iba pa,” MGen Valencia said.

He said that if a person receives a text message containing bomb threat, the person should “not disseminate it if not validated” through local police or military.
