FORT ANDRES BONIFACIO, Taguig City (DWDD) – The Philippine Army celebrates its 119th Founding Anniversary, March 22, 2016 in a ceremony at the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The celebration is led by Lt Gen Eduardo Año, Commanding General of the Philippine Army with this year’s theme “Serving the People, Securing the Land.”
President and Armed Force of the Philippines Commander-in-Chief Benigno Aquino III is the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
Recognition was feted select officers, enlisted personnel, stakeholders, Cafgus, Cadets and civilian employees of the organization.
Cpl Cliforduin O Bade (Inf) PA, Koronadal City, South Cotabato, and a Rifleman of the 8th Scout Ranger Company, First Scout Ranger Regiment, Special Operations Command will be awarded the Gold Cross Medal for gallantry in action as 90RR Gunner of the 8th Scout Ranger Battalion, First Scout Ranger Regiment, Special Operations Command during the 13-hrs & 35-mins gun battle against 150 Abu Sayaff Group (ASG) and Foreign Terrorists at Basilan Province which resulted to 23-terrorist netralized, 16-ASG wounded; seizure of 1-enemy encampment with 20-foxholes and a well-fortified enemy encampment that can accommodate 250 persons; and recovery of 6-IED pipe bombs, 2-IED triggering devices, 1-binocular, 3-emplty clips of Garand rifle, 2-bandolleers, 2-magazine pouches, and 4-suspender belts on 15 December2015.
