Military units conducting clearing operations in Patikul
town, Sulu have recovered two unexploded 105mm rounds Wednesday morning.
Joint Task Group Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado
said the munitions were discovered by troopers from 1st Scout Ranger Battalion
at Sitio Hagas-Hagas, Barangay Kabuntakas, Patikul at 10:40 a.m.
These troops immediately secured the unexploded 105mm rounds
while responding explosive ordnance device teams disarmed and "rendered
safe" the munitions before transporting it to a secure facility.
This is to prevent hostile forces from turning these items
into improvised explosive devices which can be used with deadly effect against
government forces, Arrojado said.
