PAF allocates aircraft for ongoing cloud-seeding operations

From the Philippine News Agency (May 19): PAF allocates aircraft for ongoing cloud-seeding operations

In a bid to replenish the shrinking water levels in Luzon dams, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Monday announced that it has placed an Cessna LC-210 "Centurion" aircraft at the disposal of Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) for its ongoing cloud-seeding operations.

Lt. Col. Enrico Canaya, PAF spokesperson, said that the plane is operated by the 900th Air Force Weather Group which is based in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

He added that PAF technicians helped BSWM in its cloud-seeding operations last Friday.

"The PAF provided the BSWM with technicians during their cloud-seeding operations last Friday and will continue to provide assistance and assistance and support as requested," the PAF spokesperson stressed.

Canaya stressed that the PAF can also provide their LC-210 to the BSWM if the agency requires additional aerial assets for its cloud-seeding operations.

But for the moment, the pressing need for the BSWM is technicians to handle the seeding operations.

"If they will request this aircraft for seeding operations, the PAF is more than willing to extend its help," Canaya said in Filipino.

One of the aims of the cloud-seeding operation is to replenish the dwindling water levels at Angat Dam (Quezon City), La Mesa Dam (Quezon City), San Roque Dam (Pangasinan-Benguet), and Magat Dam (Isabela).

The LC-210 can only be flown by a single pilot but can carry five passengers while reaching a maximum speed of 204 knots (235 mph or 378 km/h) at a height of 17,000 ft (5,200 m).
