The strong RP-US military-to-military relationship and frequent RP-US military exercises provide the collateral benefit of enhancing the ability of the Philippine and US militaries to work together during a humanitarian crisis such as the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda. The US military has the military assets and resources in place in Asia to provide rapid, critically needed assistance in response to an emergency situation like this. The fact that US and Philippine officers and men know each other and have worked together frequently during exercises facilitates getting the aid to those Filipinos that are most in need.
