Army 1st Infantry Division holds company commanders’ symposium

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 23): Army 1st Infantry Division holds company commanders’ symposium

A total of 78 young officers in the Philippine Army based here in the region attended a four-day Company Commanders’ Symposium, a military official announced Friday. Capt. Alberto Caber, spokesman of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said the symposium was held at the division headquarters in Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur. The three-day activity, which was attended by officers whose ranks range from Lieutenant to Major, started Tuesday and ended Friday, according to Caber. The symposium aimed to sharpen the leadership skills of the Army Company Commanders (ACCs) who are the division’s front-line peacemakers, Caber said. The symposium touched on the role of the ACCs in the implementation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan” and the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) under the Combat Leadership Enhancement Program (CELP) of the Philippine Army, he said. Meanwhile, 1st Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III urged the participants to win the peace through performance excellence, good governance and honor in the military service. “You, as the cutting-edge for peace and development can make this region a better place free from harassment, threat and extortion activities by the rebels and bandits. Let us focus on the Army core purpose of serving the people, securing the land,” Cruz said.
