Camp General Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo – With the deadline set by no less than the Commander-in-Chief, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to end local Communist armed conflict by June of 2022, the Army has remained relentless in pushing the Communist terrorists on the brink of irreversible defeat. The recent decisive encounter of government troops in Barangay Almodias, Miag-ao, Iloilo on December 1, 2021 saw another top CPP-NPA terrorist (CNT) leader fall. Another heavy blow on the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) leadership, following the death of commander and spokesperson of the CNTs national operations command, Jorge MAdlos @Ka Oris in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon on October this year.
Dead during the focused military operations conducted by the joint task group under the 301st Infantry Brigade was one of the top NPA leaders of Panay Island, Joven Ceralvo @Lex. Ceralvo was 2nd Deputy Secretary Southern Front, Kometing Rehiyon – Panay (SF KR-P) and Commanding Officer, Front Operational Command, Kometing Rehiyon- Panay ( FOC, KR-P). His remains was one of nine recovered from the encounter site.
Ceralvo is among the most wanted NPA commanders in Panay Island; facing multiple criminal cases such as rebellion, robbery with CC Nr CC # 3271, triple arson with NPS Nr VI-II-16D–00329 to 00329-A, NPS # VI-02-INV-18G-00230 and NPS # VI-02-INV-19F-00172, four multiple attempted murder with CC Nr 3329-3330, 3380, 3381 and 3388, two counts arson with atempted murder-NPS # VI-11-INV-19G-00737 to 00738, 00739 to 00740, frustrated murder with NPS # VI-02-INV-18H-00254, robbery in band with CC Nr 20-85334 NPS No VI-II-INV-19E-00536 to 00538 and car napping with CC No. 19-84697.
With Joven Ceralvo @ Lex dead, and score of others wounded during the encounter, the CNTs in Panay have lost their center of gravity; demoralization is expected among what is left of the enemy ranks. Justice has been served for the innocent civilians and their communities that has been terrorized by the CNTs led by Ceralvo.
“Now is the time for the remaining CNTs to return to the government fold. The 301st Brigade will never get tired of pursuing the remaining members of the CNTs. Fighting the Armed Forces of the Philippines is futile. There will be nowhere to hide, we will definitely find you. We assure you that we will do our best to dismantle the CNT group so that they can no longer celebrate another anniversary of deceiving innocent civilians and sowing terror. We call on you to choose peace over senseless death. We your Army are here to help. Christmas is fast approaching and your family members are waiting for you to come home.” BGen Sison said.
