Meanwhile, another joint intelligence operation conducted by the troops of 10th ID, 701st Bde, PAF, PNP, and Intel units also recovered several firearms composed of an M14, M16, and Bushmaster rifles from the CTG, after former rebels who previously surrendered to the troops disclosed the location of arms cache at Sitio Magkilo, Barangay Marayag, Lupon, Davao Oriental on December 3, 2021.

LtGen. Greg T. Almerol, Commander of EastMinCom, attributed these accomplishments to the culture of cooperation fostered by the joint AFP, PNP and former rebels who have shared a bulk of information that is crucial to the success of the military’s operations.
The EastMinCom Commander also welcomed the peaceful surrender of one of the communist terrorists and called upon the remaining CTG leaders and members to “emulate the example of those who have already chosen the path of peace by embracing the government’s sincere offer.”
“This Christmas season is the best time to surrender so that you can be reunited with your loved ones without having to worry about your condition. Do not wait for another year to pass without changing the course of your life. I urge you to make your peaceful surrender as your New Year’s resolution,” LtGen. Almerol said, addressing the remaining communist terrorists who remain to resist government forces.
The EastMinCom Commander, however, stressed that his troops will not hesitate to use force if the communist terrorists continue to resort to violent means, adding that it is the soldiers’ responsibility to protect the ordinary Filipinos first before anything else.
LtGen. Almerol reiterated that he would rather that the remaining CTG members embrace the government’s offer through a peaceful means so that they can also benefit from its programs through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
