Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – December 5, 2021

Soldiers of the 7th Infantry Battalion under the Joint Task Force Central discovered arms caches in Sultan Kudarat at 2 p.m. Friday, December 3. Operating troops were able to unearth several armaments that were buried at Sitio Kanalan, Barangay Marquez, Esperanza, same province.

Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command said the caches consist of 34 12-gauge shotguns, one M79 grenade launcher, one Springfield rifle, one cal. 22 rifle, two single-shot pistols, one cal. 45 pistol, one Uzi pistol, two IED detonators, and assorted ammunition. The firearms are placed under the custody of 7IB for safekeeping.

“Together with our partners, we will continue to go after individuals and groups that wreak havoc in the communities,” Lt. Gen. Rosario, Jr. stated. “We call on all peace-loving citizens to support this endeavor, as we are aware that the role of the people is very essential in defeating the threat groups”.

Joint Task Force Central Commander, Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy said the recovered firearms are owned by my members of an organized mass. The location of the firearms was disclosed by a surrendered member of the group.
